The Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, were the first people aware of the extraordinary features of this honey. Manuka honey is produced from the nectar of the Leptospermum scoparium flowers- which the Maori called Manuka.
Manuka is at home in the mountainous regions of New Zealand. Honey produced from this plant are said to have a very special effect. Manuka honey is full-bodied and spicy in flavour. It has a light, minty aftertaste, enchanting the senses and promising a delightful experience in tea or on bread.
The honey shines in a caramel brown. An intensely resinous smell delights your nose. The taste of the honey surprises with a resinous, spicy, slightly bitter note, topped with a sweet hint of caramel.
