The Silicone Airlocks have a one-way valve and are made of food-safe silicone that does not contain BPAs or phthalates (plasticizers). The valve allows built-up gas from the fermentation process to escape pressure can escape. The one-way nature of the valve keeps your food safe and sound without exposing it to external influences. With appropriate care (wash them before and after use and store them flat), the lids last for a long time.

When using the airlock for the first time, gently press the tip of the airlock together so that it opens. To start the fermentation process, place one of the silicone airlocks on top and secure it in place with the screw ring. Once fermentation has taken place, remove the glass weight and replace the silicone airlock with the lid of the jar.
